摘要：A mobile communication apparatus with an antenna array and a mobilecommunication method therefore are provided. A mobile communication apparatusincludes a base station with an antenna array and a mobile station, wherein the mobilestation which determines a channel downlink characteristic for each antenna using a signaltransmitted from the base station, determines long-term information and short-terminformation based on the correlation of characteristics between channels for eachantenna, using the channel downlink characteristic, converts the determined long-terminformation and short-term information to a feedback signal, and transmits the feedbacksignal to the base station, and the base station which receives the feedback signal,extracts a plurality of weights from the long-term information and short-terminformation restored from the received feedback signal, multiplies a multiplexed
dedicate physical channel signal by the respective weights, adds respective pilot channelsignals to the products, and transmits the results of the additions through the antennaarray to the mobile station. Accordingly, even with the increasing number of antennas foran antenna array, performance degradation due to increasing movement rate of a mobilestation can be reduced with improved reception signal-to-noise ratio required at themobile station. The mobile communication apparatus and method allow more users touse the same bandwidth through efficient feedback bandwidth utilization and maximizediversity and beamforming effects according to channel characteristics. When the long-term information is determined at the base station, not at the mobile station, the mobilestation can have a smaller size with reduced power consumption.
