Writing your own funny comic strip
a. Practise drawing and create your characters.
In order to ensure that you're at your very best, create sketches of basic items. People, animals, backgrounds, and props are excellent subjects to begin with.
Choose attractive names for them and dip deep into your characters. This will help you connect to them, and you'll be able to bring them to life in your comics.
b. Think of a short, amusing tale or a humorous skit featuring a joke for your comic. Once you establish a basic plot, write down the main story with additional details. c. Make a rough copy of your first comic.
Determine its structure, as well as the size of the boxes that will contain the characters and their story. Use stick figures or quick drawings to figure out the basic skeleton of your comic. Do not worry about doing your best, as this is a rough draft.
d. Create a unique name for your comic and a good copy of your comic.
If you have trouble thinking of one, surf the Internet for suggestions or read other people's titles for inspiration.
Once you are satisfied with the drawings, go over them with black ink for a professional look. To colour the comic, you can scan it into the computer and digitally colour it. Otherwise, you can use special colour pencils or markers.
e. Show the comic to your family and friends and keep your comic in a safe place.
Ask them to read it and give you a critique. This will help you to gauge how funny and successful your comic is, which will guide your future comic- making.
Continue practising and creating new comics. You may consider publishing your works in the future.

Is there intelligent(有智力的)life on other planets? For years, scientists said \"no.\" or \"we don't know.\" But today this is changing. Seth Shostak and Alexandra Barnett are astronomers(天文学家). They believe intelligent life exists(存在)somewhere in the universe. They also think we will soon contact them.
Why do Shostak and Barnett think intelligent life exists on other planets? The first reason is time. Scientists believe the universe is about 12 billion years old. \"This is long enough for other planets to have intelligent life, \"say Shostak and Barnett. The second reason is size the universe is huge. \"Tools like the Hubble Telescope(哈勃望远镜)have shown that there are at least 100 billion galaxies, \"says Shostak. \"And our galaxy, the Milky Way, has at least 100 billion stars. Some planets going around these stars might be similar to the earth. \"
In the past, it was hard to look for signs of intelligent life in the universe. But now, powerful telescopes(高倍望远镜)allow scientists to discover smaller planets-the size of Mars or the earth-in other solar systems, these planets might have intelligent life.
Have beings from space already visited the earth? \"Probably not, \"says Shostak. \"It's a long way away. However, intelligent beings may contact us in other way, such as radio signals(信号). In fact, they may be trying to communicate with us now, but we don't have the right tools to receive their messages. However, this is changing. By 2025, we could make contact with other life forms in our universe and we might help each other. \" (1)What is the main idea of Paragraph 2? A. The age and size of the earth. B. Something about the Milky Way.

(3)Why haven't beings from space visited us yet according to Shostak? A. Because they're afraid of us. B. Because it's long way away. C. Because they don't want to see us.
D. Because they don't know how to use radio signals.
(4)What does the underlined phrase \"life forms\" in the last paragraph mean? A. Messages. B. Tools. C. Radio signals. D. Intelligent beings. 【答案】 (1)C (2)B (3)B (4)D

On the first day of the New Year 2019, I made up my mind to go to Thailand to teach English as a volunteer. At the beginning, all I cared about was travelling and seeing the country. I didn't know how fantastic my life would be in the coming months!
My journey began with attending TESOL certification course in my home state of New York last February. After 3 weekends of study and another 40 hours' study online, I received my TESOL certificate.
I was asked to contact Philip, who is Program Director of the Teach in Thailand. After discussing with Philip, I chose my school and after many months of excitement, I finally flew to Thailand in early April and I couldn't wait to explore the country!
After a few weeks of single travel, I met up with Philip and the other new teachers in my program in Bangkok. It was great to meet other people who were on the same journey as me, see some cool sights and walk in Thailand's cities! After that, I attended the week-long training. At the end of the training, I was sent to my school—Anuban Buriram Primary School.
I truly love my job—I teach Grades 5 and 6 and I have the cleverest and most active kids in the world. It's a truly fantastic thing that you can see the difference you make in someone else's life, right in front of you!
Buriram is a small city with green rice fields. People here are more friendly than anyone I've ever met—I've never been anywhere where a smile is so easily received, where everyone you pass is so friendly to say \"Hello\" and \"Good morning\". I've been taken out to countless dinners,

Cut out sugar where you can. I used to have a sweet tooth. If you put cupcakes, ice-cream or cookies in front of me, I'd certainly eat them.
