When astronauts are out in space, they have to do things very regularly. Here is part of the schedule for an astronaut who’s working through the day on a spaceship called Apex III.
Every day he gets up at half past seven. After he’s washed he has his breakfast, that’s at eight o’ clock. After breakfast, which isn’t like the breakfast you eat, he has to check the instruments. He has to do this at exactly nine o’ clock every day. It takes a long time for him to check the instruments properly, but after he’s done it, at about half past ten, he does his exercises. There’s lots of work to do on board a spaceship and the astronaut is kept busy all day. At exactly a quarter past six, he sends his daily report to headquarters on earth. Then he rests from a quarter to seven till a quarter to eight. At a quarter past eight, he has supper, and from nine o’clock to quarter to ten, he writes his diary and then he goes to bed
