I grab the sponge and squirt some dish soap onto it, then start scrubbing the dirty dishes in the sink. The warm water feels good on my hands as I work my way through the pile.
After scrubbing each dish, I rinse it off under the running water, making sure to get rid of all the soap suds. The sound of the water splashing is oddly soothing as I continue with my task.
Some dishes have stubborn stains that require a bit more elbow grease. I scrub harder, determined to get them clean. It's satisfying to see the dirt and grime disappear as I work.
Once all the dishes are clean, I carefully stack them in the dish rack to dry. The shiny, clean dishes look almost brand new as they sit there, waiting to be put away.
I wipe down the countertops and sink, making sure everything is clean and tidy. The kitchen looks so much better now that the dishes are done. It's a small task, but it makes a big difference in how the space feels.
