The status of women in china
As is known to all, the status of women in old society is very low, and they are often discriminated. Since New China was founded in 1949,especially along with the continuous growth of China's economy and the overall progress of its society, the status of women in china has improved remarkably in recent years in the areas of economic independence, political rights,educationl opportunities,and social status.
Firstly,the state has made the guarantee of equal employment opportunities between women and men .Encouraging women to start business and become re-employed.More and more women have joined the work and their business was very successful.Secondly,women’s participation in grassroots democracy has improved. The number of women in leadership circles has gradually increased in party committees, the People’s Congress and the government.Thirdly,women have more opportunities to pursue continuing education.The gap in the education level reached by men and women has narrowed.Among the women who received an education greater than senior high school, 26.8% obtained their highest degree from adult education,2.2% higher than men.
The political status of women is rising.But There is an obvious imbalance in the development of women in different regions, social status and groups.There is a long way to go and arduous tasks to tackle to achieve gender equality and promote women's development in China to a satisfactory level.
