摘要：There is provided a method of delivering media content on a device. A requestto stream media content is received at the device. At least a first portion of the
requested media content is retrieved from a local media store of the device. The at leasta first portion of the requested media content is delivered to a media player of thedevice for playback. In parallel to the delivery of the at least a first portion of therequested media content, at least a second portion of the requested media content isdownloaded from a remote media store to the device. HLS streaming is extended toencompass both pre-download and real-time streaming modes. In addition, retrievedmedia content is protected from illegal copying, as the device is registered with acertificate authority and authenticated on key servers. The operations may be entirelytransparent to the media player.
