The methodincludes the base station (i) selecting one of a plurality of available response proceduresby which user terminals should send in response to a first message to be broadcast bythe base station a second message to the base station; and (ii) sending a broadcastwireless signal including the first message to user terminals; and a plurality of the userterminals sending to the base station, in response to receiving the first message, awireless signal including the second message by the response procedure selected by thebase station.
