It is really a great opportunity for me to meet you and also talk about my understanding of the text or the passage. I really hope that you can give me your valuable advice. Today , the title of my lesson is Unit 7 So much to do before we travel (Reading and writing ) from Higher Education Press. It is about two-day tour in Sydney. I believe the Ss will be very interested in it. My presentation is made up of six parts. Part1: Analyses of the teaching materials and the Ss. 1. What to learn, Status and function

First, I‟ll analyses the teaching materials. The lesson is the second period of Unit 7. It is a typical reading and writing lesson. The topic of this unit is about travel. At the beginning of the unit, we have discussed how to make preparations for travel and we have also discussed what we should bring when we travel in different places. By studying this unit, we will enable the students to learn something about tourist attractions at home and abroad .Meanwhile , let them appreciate the beauty of nature and arouse their love for nature. More importantly , we‟ll develop the Ss‟ occupation accomplishment and service consciousness as a travel agent in the future. And let them build the professional ideas and get ready for their future jobs.

This reading part plays an important part in the English teaching in this unit. If the Ss learn it well, it will be helpful to learning the rest of this unit. 2. Analyses of the Ss

Our students are in Grade one. There are 45 Ss in my class. They major in tourism management. They are full of curiosity and creativity. What‟s more, most of them are from the countryside. All of them will take part in the College Entrance Examination. So they know the importance of English learning. However, some of them are less motivated and even tired of studying English .So during my teaching, I‟ll give them as much encouragement as possible and build their confidence in

English learning . In addition, the topic is about travel, which is closely related to their major. So such a topic can greatly attract the Ss ‟interest.

Part2: Teaching method

We all know that a good teaching method is not only to give the Ss knowledge but also to solve the problem which they met. To achieve these aims, I will use three teaching approaches.

1. Communicative Approach 2. Task-based Teaching Approach 3.Situational Teaching Approach

Part3: (There are 3 )Learning Strategies

1. Task-based Strategy will be used in fast-reading and careful-reading.

2. Communicative Strategy

2

3. Cooperative and competitive Strategy will be used in game activity. It will be a fun part.

Part4: Teaching aids

Multimedia and a blackboard

In order to make my class lively and interesting, I will use multi-media as well as a blackboard. Some beautiful pictures and videos can not only satisfy the Ss‟ curiosity but also contribute to their understanding of the text. Part5: Teaching procedures:

In this part, the students are the real masters of class while the teacher just acts as a guide or director. I will divide it into 7 steps. They are on the screen and there is also the distribution of time on the screen.

Just as the saying goes, “well-began is half-done.” I think a good start is very important in any lesson. So before class, I will play the music “the flames ”--it is the theme song of The 2000 Sydney Olympic Games” to stimulate their interest in my class. Meanwhile, relax the Ss and create a happy atmosphere of learning English Step1. Lead-in

My lead-in activity is designed like this. Activity 1:Ask , answer and guess

First, I‟ll ask Ss to talk about their travel destinations by asking them “Winter vocation is coming ,where will you go for travel?” Ss will mention different places .Then, I‟ll say, today I‟ll take you to a completely different place to travel. Look at the picture and guess which city it is. After that, I‟ll show a picture of Sydney Opera House.).Finally, ask them, “Do you want to travel there? “Ok, Today, let‟s go there to travel. We‟ll learn a passage “Two-day tour in Sydney” Activity 2: Enjoy a video of Sydney

Next, I‟ll ask the Ss, “What do you know about Sydney? What‟s Sydney famous for?” .Then , let them learn more about Sydney by enjoying a video of it. The Ss will watch the video and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Sydney and answer the questions. I will use Audio visual approach. The purpose of my design is to let them enjoy the natural beauty and know about some famous scenic spots of Sydney. Meanwhile, Stimulate their love for nature and strong desire for travel. Step 2 Word study

Then, I‟ll move on step 2 word study. I think vocabulary is just like the root of a tree, if the root is broken, the tree will die. The same truth is like language learning. If the Ss do not have the foundation of vocabulary. I think it can hardly have language ability. And in reading comprehension, If the new words are not explained, it will be difficult for them to understand the passage. So it is my duty to help the Ss to clear some unnecessary obstacles. . Activity 3: Look ,listen and repeat

I will use groups of pictures to help Ss learn new words. Then I will ask the students to read the words and expressions after the tape. The Ss will repeat them until they can read them. Especially some names of places.

The purpose is to lay the foundation of the next reading tasks in vocabulary. Meanwhile, make the students familiar with these tourist attractions of Sydney.

2. What is a must-do once you are in Sydney? 3. Where shall we end our trip on Day 2? Step4 Fast-reading

Activity 5: Read and complete.(individual work)

This time, the Ss will read the passage carefully, then match the places with the activities. Finally I‟ll check the answers. Where necessary, I‟ll give students some explanation. I‟ll adopt task-based method and explanation. After that, I‟ll give the Ss enough time to read the text. 1) Royal Botanical Garden 2) Bondi Beach 3) Elizabeth Bay House 4) Sydney Aquarium 5) Sydney Opera House 6) Sydney Harbor Bridge a. enjoy a show b. get close to sea animals c. climb to the top and see whole city d. go shopping e. relax and breathe the fresh air f. lie on the Beach 7)Opera House Market g. get to know 19 th century life Activity 7: Play a game “Quick response”.

In order to make the Ss master the passage better, we‟ll play a game . First , I‟ll divide the Ss into two teams. They‟ll have a “PK” between them. By asking “ Team one, do you want to win? Team 2,would you like to be Number one?” to create a competitive

I will give Ss enough time to read the passage and find some difficult sentences and discuss with them each other to solve them. .I‟ll walk around to offer some help.At last ,translate the following key sentences .Discussion learning and Peer learning will be used in my teaching.
