Addressing job application letters:
1. On the right or left had sides, there should be your address and the date.
2. Following this , on the left hand side you should address the recipient of the letter including the person’s name, title, company name, address. 3. Salutation: Mr. or Ms. (Mrs.) + first name + last name
Better not use “To whom it may concern”, because it may create the false impression that you are not sincere enough. Dear Sir / Madame
The introductory Paragraph:
The first paragraph should simply state why you are writing. If it is an advertised position, mention the position title and where it as advertised. Reference to advertisement:
1. Having noticed the enclosed advertisement in this morning's South China Daily, I wish to apply for the position of sale's manager. 2. With reference to you advertisement in the Printer’s Post I would like to apply for the post of Personal Assistant.

The main body of job application letters:
The main body of the letter should be two to three paragraphs at the most. Here is where you tell them what you have to offer and why they should read you CV. This is a good time to read the job advertisement again. In one paragraph (two at the most) you may first need to present personal information. This part should be a description of the applicant’s age, sex, education, working experience and specialty. It is in this section that the applicant presents his advantages or qualifications for the position. Summaries your experience and skills, at the same time, you need to respond to the position requirements as mentioned the advertisement. Try to highlight what you specialize in, or how many years in the industry you might have, or even the level that you have reached.
The next part of the body of the letter should be a brief description of your personal skills. Again read the advertisement and respond to their needs. If they are asking for someone with good co-ordination skills, then ensure you mention something to that effect. If it is communication or perhaps leadership skills they value, then tell them that you have these. Eg.
(1) I am 21 years of age. After graduating from high school, I took a two-year business course in Foshan Commercial School, studying both bookkeeping and typewriting. I now wish to enter an office where the work requires great individual responsibility and judgment, and where there is an opportunity for achievements.
