PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically assisted bicycle having a simpleconstruction for reliably carrying out change-over to a regenerative state.
SOLUTION: The electrically assisted bicycle comprises a human power drive
mechanism using a human drive force, and an electric drive mechanism driving a motor 32with a driving force in accordance with a value detected by a torque detector 41 fordetecting the human torque of the human power drive mechanism. The electric drivemechanism carries out regenerative charging when the number of revolutions of a crank6 in the human power drive mechanism is smaller than the number of revolutions of thecrank when traveling on a flat road at traveling speed detected by a speed detector 40.By this, a downward slope driving state is determined by the number of revolutions ofthe crank, so that the downward slope traveling state can be further accuratelydetermined to carry out regenerative charging regardless of the weight of a driver, aloaded article, and the like. Consequently, a battery is charged, and a comfortabletraveling property can be kept.
