According to the passage， the author’s attitude towards the early computers can best be described as.A)indifferent B) ambiguous C) contemptuous D) hostile
由于这些词⾼度概括了作者的态度，因此，如不清楚这些词的释义，含义，就不可能答对问题。我们把这些词按经常⼀起出现的频率分为⼏⼤类：A

我们怎么能知道某篇⽂章的作者态度是肯定的，另⼀篇⽂章的作者态度是否定或中⽴的。这主要从作者的⽂章观点，从作者的论述⽅法，从作者的遣词措辞，从作者的语⽓等⽅⾯推断出来的。例如A．positive
After careful examination of the constitutional issues involved, the mayor, responding to the people’s wishes, has announced
that he will take immediate action.B negative
After hesitating for as long as he dared to, and taking refuge in the ambiguities of the constitution, the mayor has at long lastyield to pressure and grudgingly agreed to try to do something.
A、B两段内容基本相同，但A对的态度是肯定的，因为“careful examination”表⽰认真负责的态度，“responding to thepeople’s wishes”，“take immediate action”表⽰积极的态度。
⽽B对的态度是否定的，因为“hesitating for as long as”表⽰犹豫不决，尽量拖延，“taking refuge in”反映逃避，回避⽭盾的态度，“has at long last yield to pressure”，“grudgingly agreed”表⽰采取⾏动是被迫的。这类题⽬有时问的不是态度 (attitude)，⽽是语⽓ (tone)。
但实际上是⼀回事：作者的语⽓或幽默，或严肃，或挖苦，或讽刺，都是表明作者的态度，⽴场和观点。因此解题的⽅法和做猜测态度题的⽅法是⼀样的。不过，要了解经常出现在选项中的⼀些词的意思。humorous幽默的 mocking嘲笑的serious严肃的 cynical玩世不恭的somber严峻、冷静的 sarcastical挖苦的playful开玩笑的 sentimental感伤的bitter尖刻的 emotional动感情的iron让讽刺的 angry⽓愤的
